As a Health &a; Safety Specialist, you&s;ll have the responsibility of leading all EH&a;S activities and insuring all responsible parties comply with federal state, and corporate requirements and codes.
What you&s;ll do:


  • The EH&a;S Coordinator is responsible for leading all EH&a;S activities and insuring staff/visitors/guest/contractor complies with all federal, provincial codes and requirements.
  • Participate in engaging all personnel in achieving EHS goals and vision and making safety a behavior not just a policy.
  • Investigate all accidents, incidents and near misses alongside the Department Supervisor and ensuring all appropriate root causes/corrective actions are implemented in a timely manner.
  • Responsible for adhering to and improving an EHS audit system, including PPE, Safety Stations, chemical inventories &a; SDS database and Department Inspections. (This can include audits of facilities that require travel.)
  • Ensure all metrics are maintained and documented accordingly.
  • Responsible for proactively raising EHS awareness, including developing and delivering training, monthly Safety meetings, EHS updates, and Fire Zone lists.
  • Participate in annual planning / budgeting for EHS personnel and EHS activities across all departments.
  • Actively participate on assigned teams and/or projects, including facility Health &a;
  • Safety Committee and process improvement initiatives.
  • Facilitating Hazard Identification and Risk Assessment activates as per planned schedule.
  • Providing periodic reports on safety performance and the effectiveness of mitigation actions.
  • Participate in the creation of company environmental programs and compliance to any legislative requirements such as ISO 14001:2015
  • Accompany all environmental, health and safety auditors/inspectors on walk through tours; and ensure all documentation is completed according to company processes and procedures.
  • Participate in regular drills onsite; Emergency Response, Safety, Equipment Practice, First Responders etc.
  • Maintain up to date knowledge of regulations and standards.
  • Perform all SMS Manager functions during his/her absence.

Position Requirements:
  • Bachelor&s;s degree in related field preferred
  • 2
    years&s; of occupational EH&a;S related experience
  • Communicate effectively and efficiently
  • Proficient in Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, PowerPoint)
  • Have a working knowledge of regulatory and legislative policies
  • Being able to walk to various areas throughout the facility on a daily basis.
